Dean Tom Katsouleas talked about Pratt's recent achievements and endeavors, followed by brief interviews with Will Patrick, Pratt Senior Class President and member of Engineers Without Borders, Dr. Lawrence Boyd, Assoc Director, Duke Center for Entrepreneurship and Research and Commercialization, and Dr. Nimmi Ramanujam, Director, Tissue Optical Spectroscopy Lab, whose research has been featured on ABC World News. After the interviews there was a Q&A session with the audience, followed by an informal reception.

Connel Fullenkamp, associate professor of the practice of economics, Lawrence Boyd Ph.D. ’07, associate director of Duke’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Research Commercialization, and John Graham Ph.D.’94, D. Richard Mead Jr. Professor of Finance at the Fuqua School of Business, reflected on the aftermath of the economic crisis under the new administration. For example, how are venture capitalists and other forms of start-ups affected and how are firms finding the financing they need to make investments--or stay afloat. What will be the effect of the stimulus packages and bailouts and what regulatory changes must result?
